Tampa Fishing Charters Tarpon Update

We are smack dab in the the middle of our Tampa tarpon fishing season. The numbers of tarpon are impressive this year and we have been targeting them daily. The weather has been overcast a lot which isn’t great for sight fishing but it does keep them active all day long. Massive schools of tarpon have been swimming the beaches of the Tampa Bay area and big resident fish are laid up inside Tampa Bay itself. If you are interested in booking a Tampa tarpon fishing trip give me a call now. The action will remain hot until at least October.

Tampa Bay Fly Fishing for Tarpon

I have been mainly running fly fishing trips for tarpon. The action has been steady and at moments EPIC. There have been vast numbers of tarpon rolling in the morning at first light. I have had great success on these tarpon. Mid day it seems to be daisy chaining fish sometimes in schools of hundreds. These fish can be tough, but accurate casting and patience go a long way. I have been experimenting with some new flies and the results have been incredible. Our daily hookup ratio has been through the roof!

After the main migration is over that is when the real fun begins. The crowds thin and big hungry tarpon invade Tampa Bay and will remain here feeding through fall. These fish are here for one reason only, to eat. If you get the fly in front of them it’s fish on every time. This is the absolute best time to guarantee success on a Tampa fly fishing charter.
